{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter ~

{pretty}

Why does the top of the piano accumulate junk?! For some reason we always end up with a pile of stuff on it. Drives me crazy. I finally cleared it off and decorated it! The orange book is Tasha Tudor's Pumpkin Moonshine. It is such a sweet book! My Mom got it for me at the bookstore in Ithaca. I love Tasha Tudor's illustrations, and have her Christmas book, as well as a book of poems and excerpts from books on love.

I am not a big fan of Hallowe'en, but decided to make treat bags for Zach and a couple of his friends. I found the card on Pinterest, and put a slice of pumpkin chocolate chip bread and a clementine in it. It was a huge hit. (Especially after the midterm they had that morning.) The little boy I'm babysitting loved the faces on the clementines! He piled them on Tony's toy tractor and drove them around.
Isn't this the cutest thing?! I drew different faces on them...this one looks so happy!
{funny}

St. Anthony of Padua. I don't know why he was screaming. He enjoyed it for a while. I wanted to paint the St. Anthony hair on him, but I wasn't prepared enough, and he's too little to know. I wish that Hallowe'en didn't have so many occult ties, because I love costumes. I would love to dress Tony up as a little Frodo or Captain America. But that's what birthdays are for, right?

Poor Zach didn't get a costume. Maybe next year.
I decided to be newly-canonized Anna Schaffer. The dirndl has been in my closet for years, and I pulled it out last weekend thinking I might wear it to Oktober Fest. (I decided against it, in spite of Zach's protests. I didn't really feel like sticking out, and once we got there I was glad I didn't. It was a very small turnout.)

Happy All Souls Day! Don't forget to go to a cemetery and pray for the poor souls in purgatory! (Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the instructions! And don't forget to like the Liturgical Year on Facebook!!)

  1. Tony's costume is so cute. Where did you find it? I really like your dress. It looks good with your short hair!

  2. I made Tony's costume from a men's sweater I found at the Salvation Army. I thought it would work well. It didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but it was good enough. :)
