{pretty, happy, funny, real}

{pretty}
Zach surprised me with two dozen roses on our anniversary. They have opened up beautifully, and are so vibrant. It was the perfect addition to my little candle centerpiece for our anniversary dinner at home. As a special treat, I picked up a sirloin steak from the Farmer's Market. It was amazing.

The ride to the reception was awesome. I totally felt like Princess Grace or something. That was one of the kindest gifts - the driver is a dentist that I worked for a couple of years before I even met Zach. He very nicely offered to drive us to the reception as his gift. I love it when people are willing to give their time to make something more special.

This photo makes me smile. We were waiting to go back inside and take a couple of pictures. The cars in the background ruin the historical feel, but if you can ignore that...

Here is a perfect example of our emotional reservedness. I have always been very calm, and private about my emotions (except for anger or annoyance, unfortunately), and Zach is the same way. Though he isn't usually as calm as I am, haha!

My photographer uncle was kind enough to take some photos for us. This is one of my favorites. I love the autumn colors behind us.

 Tony loves hiding back here. In front of him is a big grate for the air. He loves putting things down the grate. My sister cleaned it out while she was here - markers, spoons, food...he's such a stinker. He's so darn cute, though.

 Pear butter! I decided against the preserves. I just started watching my first intern's little boy this week, and was busy with our anniversary, so I had to do something easy. I also was determined not to use any additional sugar, which makes it harder to do preserves. The only thing I added were cinnamon sticks and whole cloves. It passed Zach's taste test, and I have to agree that it is awfully good. I have a little more simmering away in the crockpot, but I canned my first dozen last night! I want to make labels for them and am trying to come up with a name.

Some of my ideas so far:
Purely Pears
Simply Pears

From my Mom:
Pearish Delight
The Bare Pear

Any thoughts or ideas??
