{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

{pretty}

Our living room.
Last week I decided to surprise my Mom with a visit for her birthday. While I was gone, Zach surprised me by cleaning the house up! It's still a work in progress, but he got things more organized so we can hang pictures and whatnot.

The seller very kindly left us this piano. At the first closing date, the attorney told us it was going to be picked up over the weekend. Things didn't close that day, and when we came back the next week, he said it was ours! I was so excited! It's very lovely, and she even left her daughters piano books in the bench!

Yay for Duplos!!

I did not take this picture while driving. We had stopped, and he was being so cute. If I say, "One, two, three..." he smiles. I love it.
{funny}

He can climb almost all the way up the slide. God help me! I'll be gray before the boy is 5.
I don't know why children love things like this. He will spend quite a while climbing on and off of it.

This was another surprise when I got back from my parents. Zach enlisted the help of his friend Jay one afternoon and now I have a lovely, bright fan in my kitchen! Zach is turning into such a handyman, it makes me so happy!

{pretty, happy, funny, real}

{pretty}

The shingles I just painted in my kitchen! Before they matched the cabinets, and it just looked rather blah. Now it reminds me of a cottage from The Quiet Man.

See what I mean? Those gold knobs are going, too.

This is happy because I'm starving. It's a veggie salad with cauliflower, radishes, tomatoes, green onions, cucumbers, red and green peppers, parsley, and lime juice. AMAZING. It's almost like a salsa, without the sauciness.

This was going to go under {real}, but the other one fit better. This was how my morning started. Tony throwing his egg everywhere.

Can we say real old and disgusting? That plastic was so yellow, it made the whole kitchen look horrible. It's much better now without the cover, but I'm still going to replace it with a ceiling fan.

Why I Love Thrift Shopping...

...because for $3.23 you can get a useable high chair!

Since Tony is now having meals with us, we needed a high chair. I had seen this one a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get it because we weren't in the house yet. Today I stopped by, and there it was. The tag said $4.99, but today was 50% off of pink tags - ha!

I'm not crazy about the wood-look vinyl, but it will do for now. I may try to recover it eventually. For now it contains my little munchkin quite well.

Tony at the State Park

I was going to call this An Evening at the State Park, but it's just a proud mama's overload of pictures of her sweet little man. Hence the altered title.

What, Mama?
I can't believe that his birthday is next month!

Mmm...nothing like a little bit of stick.
At one point he had not one, but two, sticks in his mouth. He was gnawing on them very intently.

See this? I can stand up.
Chilling in Jay's "Attila the Hun" chair.
Cayuga Lake.
As soon as I get the house in a little better order I am going to take some pictures. With help from my Mom and Annelise a great deal of boxes were unpacked. Of course, there's still so much to do. I'm juggling unpacking with some home improvement, which makes it that much more fun. :)
