A couple of years ago Zach and I decided to change the way we eat. We had tried to eat healthier since we were married (whole grain pasta...yuck), but eventually made the switch to what we later discovered is called Paleo. Our version of Paleo includes raw dairy products, white potatoes, and occasionally white rice and beans. We eat a lot of sweet potatoes, too. Because we look at it as a lifestyle, not a diet, we practice the 80/20 rule - there is the periodic dessert with refined sugar or slice of pizza.
It isn't always easy (sometimes I wish I could just pull out a loaf of bread and make grilled cheese), and it is more expensive. The trade-off is that we are never sick, saving money by not having to go to the doctor.
One of my favorite aspects (aside from the health benefits) of it is that we have become more aware of where our food comes from. In the summer we get our vegetables from a CSA, and our meat and eggs come from a local farm. I love it. We have a great relationship with the woman who owns the meat farm, which is like a dream come true. We hope in the future to be able to raise more of our own food, but right now we don't have the space.
If you are interested in learning more, there are plenty of websites that are far more qualified than I am to explain the why's and how's. Chris Kresser, Mark's Daily Apple, and my new favorite, Mama and Baby Love are good places to start.
In addition to eating healthy, we take a couple of supplements. These are our favorites:

Also, I get no compensation if you click through the links. Zach has done a lot of research on supplements, and these are what he believes are some of the best available. I hate to see people taking junk supplements, so I am sharing.
Ha. You know I am going to comment on everything. :) You know you have my full support on this. One of the best ways to ensure the health of your family. And it is so worth it...
