Wrinkled, but newly made shade and tablecloth!
It was difficult to pick what should go under each heading...they all have a little bit of each!
I decided to make a channel for the 1x2 instead of stapling it so that I can take it down to be washed.
I finally sat down the other day and stitched the first of the new shades. I still need to make the channels for the dowels, and sew the rings on so I can thread the cord, but the shade is fully functional right now. It could be my imagination, but I feel like it makes the room look and feel warmer. I'm trying to decide how to embellish it, since it is a little (or a lot) plain. I love it, though. It feels so much more private than the fruity half-curtain left by the previous owner. Today I cut out the two for the living room. I have a bunch of fabric left, and I think I'm going to make curtains for Tony's room.

When we first moved to New York I spent a lot of time walking around Wally World. We were living in a hotel, and then the dorms waiting for our house to close. Our WW has a fabric department, and they had a huge bin of $1/yd fabric. It had everything - flannel, knits, and home dec fabric. I bought 7 yards of this cream, and close to 10 yards of another cream that has a rose pattern. I had to bring a leaf down for Thanksgiving, and realized that I needed a tablecloth. It took me about 15 minutes, and looks beautiful. I have the same pattern in blue and ruby, so I think more tablecloths are on the to-do list.

My poor baby has been wearing bandaids for the past few days to help minimize the spreading of the impetigo. It has helped a lot! I don't think there have been any new ones on his legs, and the few on his fingers are healing, along with the awful mess of chewed/sucked on skin from his teething. (Today I peeled off the layer of dead skin. Oh my gosh. Really, really gross. The new, healthy skin underneath made me so happy, though.) His face is a little more difficult, but we're doing the best we can. He takes all of his supplements like a champ - he loves the probiotic powder, and just bites into his kiddie krill oil tablets. We really, really did not want to put him on an antibiotic, and even though it's taking a little longer, I'm so glad we're helping his body fight it on it's own. Did you know that a single round of antibiotics can permanently alter your gut flora?
Not even dumb old bandaids can ruin his sunny smile.
I used socks on his hands last night to keep the bandaids from falling off. This morning he was acting like an animal, crawling around on all fours.

I think mentioned that our oven had stopped working two Sundays ago. I went to the ReStore and the only gas stove they had just sold - bummer! I called my Mom to tell her, and she said that she was buying me a new stove. Of course, I argued with her, but she said she was going to order it and have it delivered regardless of what I said, so...what can you do? Other than thank your wonderful mother profusely. Two weeks without an oven has been a little difficult, and I am so, so grateful to have a working one again! The best part of it is that this beautiful stainless steel stove was not much more than the very basic white stove! Score!
Thanks, Mom! You know how much I appreciate it. :)

I'm glad you have a new oven - especially in view of Thanksgiving. That fabric was handy at the right time, wasn't it? Makes a great tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteYour little guy is real cute, band-aids notwithstanding.
Beautiful stove! My dd had impetigo at about that same age. I don't remember the treatment but it went away and never came back. Hope your boy is better soon
ReplyDeleteLove the look in the dining room! And that pic(s) of Tony is so precious. He is so beautiful, band-aids and all. Just wish I was there to kiss on him! And the stove looks great! So glad that it is there and hooked up! I *do* know how much you appreciate it and I am thrilled that I was able to help. Love you all so much!
