{pretty, happy, funny, real}

Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter - hop over there to see sweet little Evangeline Rose

{pretty}

Don't eat the clover!
I really love photography, but I have not taken time to learn more about it so that I can be better at it. One of these days. Along with really learning how to knit and crochet. Cora makes a wonderful subject to practice with, and these are two of my favorites out of the 50+ pictures I took the other evening.

Sweet baby sister.

Green beans! From our garden! Enough for an actual side at dinner! Our poor garden never made it beyond peppers and green beans, but we've had a fair harvest of beans over the past couple of months, and look at these jalapenos my Mom picked the other night:

I think I am going to roast and freeze the next little batch. I'm hoping that our Anaheim pepper plant makes it...there is a rogue squash plant that has grown under the fence from the neighbors compost (I think?) and taken over part of our garden space. Right on top of the peppers.

We attended Mass in shifts on Sunday - Zach with Gus in the morning, and my Mom and I with Nick at the 11am. This is what was waiting for us when we got back.

Today is Gus' 17th birthday, and I am praying that he has a good day! He has spent the better part of his summer at my house, and I know it hasn't been easy. Last night my parents made the sacrifice to meet each other halfway to trade kids. Gus and Nick went home, and we now have a house full of girls - Annelise, Emma, and Monica have joined Mom and Cora!

After seeing the adorable quilt for Baby Girl Turner, my Mom and I went a little crazy. I am not a quilter (poor Tony is still waiting on the quilt I started over a year go...), but the idea of quilting a cute panel was super appealing. I found really sweet ones online, but we came across this Precious Moments Noah's Ark on clearance at Wal-Mart. Ha - instant gratification and waiting-on-baby distraction! I'm waiting to bind it until we know what this Baby is...my binding is ready and waiting, though! I used left over flannel from the receiving blankets I made before Tony was born.

  2. The best way to get good at photography is to have a baby... they make the perfect subjects to practice on! :-)

    Another thing you can do with those jalapenos is to make jalapeno jelly. It is SO good! I have a tender tongue (avoid spicy things like the plague) but jalapeno jelly is just the right spiciness and put on top of cream cheese and crackers- it is divine. My brother in law asks for it for Christmas EVERY YEAR. The recipe is on my kitchen blog, if you like:

  5. I laughed out loud at the picture of Gus and Tony. That has always been Anthony's preferred menthol of babysitting. I always came home from my midwife appointments with Henry to find the two of them sleeping on the couch. It's harder with more kids, but he did manage to hypnotize the three of them or something a few weeks ago. He was on the couch with Henry and Maria and Vincent were sprawled in the toy mess. And it was only noon, no where near naptime. I guess guys babysitting are really that boring when they try.

    The quilt looks cute! I like the girl binding. :)

    We've gotten about 5 lbs of beans so far and the plants are just starting their second flowering. Your jalepenos look nice! I should try jam this year because I don't have enough to pickle.
