Evie at One Week

I am a couple of days behind, but yesterday was Zach's birthday, and it was a little crazy. (Even 8 days postpartum I couldn't let him make his own birthday cake...)

I did, however, get pictures of Evie on Monday, which was a step in the right direction.

On Monday she had her first bath. She loved it. I've been lucky to have two babies who love being bathed. I love how fuzzy their hair gets after a bath.

Big brother kisses. Still working on the concept of gentle, though he does pretty well most of the time.

On Monday night her umbilical cord fell off, which was a relief. I really don't like the umbilical cord. This time I was worried that it would fall off prematurely, and went so far as to secure it with butterfly bandages. It wiggled out in spite of the bandages, of course.

Monday morning before her bath. She smiles a lot while she's sleeping. So precious. I love waking up next to her and just watching her sleep or nurse. The drop of milk on the corner of her mouth makes me laugh.

At day 9, I am counting down the hours (slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean) to next Monday when it's more ideal for me to be up and about again. I have spent so much of the last 7 weeks resting, and I am quite tired of it. I never thought I would look forward to cooking and cleaning, but there it is.

Please keep Zach in your prayers as he studies for part I of the national board exams which take place next Fri/Sat/Sun.

Love,
Jess
