{pretty, happy, funny, real}

{pretty}
The crocuses bloomed last week! I was feeling like spring would never come here, but today I noticed buds on the trees. Hurrah! I can't wait for leaves on the trees again, and flowers...and warmth. We have had a few warm days, so Tony and I have taken some walks around town. I certainly don't want to live in a town my whole life, but I do enjoy it right now with Zach being so busy all of the time. The library is close, and makes for a nice, easy walk (especially since they only let you check out two movies at a time). Last week I rented the three episodes of Wallander with Kenneth Branagh. It was very good (great acting, beautiful scenery!), though a little too graphic for me. (As a disclaimer, I'm almost laughably sensitive to any kind of disturbing visual. Even watching labor scenes in Call the Midwife, one of my favorite shows, is too much. The forceps delivery on Sunday's episode had me looking in my lap, with my stomach in knots.)

{happy}
Tony loves Jack. Every time I tell Zach I'm at my limit with the dog, I see Tony snuggling him and can't bear to take him away. Jack also has this awfully uncanny sense - he starts behaving every time I'm ready to kick him out the door. So he stays. Ultimately, I'm glad we have him. Tony likes playing with him, and I think it will be a good responsibility for him as he gets bigger. People say it gets better the older they get...hopefully they're right.

{funny}
My hair clip. His training pants. Some krill oil dribbling out of his mouth (he chews his krill oil tablets. D.i.s.g.u.s.t.i.n.g. I want to die every time I get the taste in my mouth after taking them.) He was helping me cook, and today we were making honey chipotle chicken sausage for lunch. It was very tasty.

While I was repairing our vacuum (Jack chewed the cord close to the plug...thank goodness for replacement plugs), Tony brought me one of these statues with a broken head. "I broke it," he told me. I wondered how he got it, and was greeted by the above photo when I went into the living room. I didn't think he could open the door on the Oriental cabinet, but obviously I was wrong. He loves my statues, which is sweet, but they're not exactly toys. As I moved them to the piano until I could figure out where to keep them, he carried those decorative plates to the dining room table and was asking for me to serve carrots on them...why, oh why, my dear child?
