Have you ever had that itch to do something drastic to your hair? In the past I have dyed or permed my hair to satisfy the desire for change. Lately I have been hating my hair. I refuse to be a ponytail mom. I am just not creative enough to do neat things with my hair, though. Time is a factor, too, since most days I barely make it through a shower without Tony crying (the playpen has been my new friend!). I have to hold him while I finish getting dressed. Nifty hairdo? Ha. I don't want to feel like a slob, it makes my day feel dreary.
Yesterday I came across a
crafty blog and the owner had the most adorable pixie cut (which is in the growing out stage right now). I quickly decided I needed a change...
Katrina did it, and I think she did a great job. (Katrina was also my awesome photographer.) I haven't had my hair this short in 10 years, and initially I thought I would be really self-conscious. I love it, though. It's feminine in a different way, and you can make it more feminine with a pretty clip.
Just had to share...
Love,
Jess
Aaaa!! I love it! It's looks so great on you. I've been wanting to do something different with my hair too. Not sure what I'll do though. I've been growing it out, but I'm just kind of bored with it, and itand it ends up in a simple braid most days. I'm thinking of going red. Not sure about style though.
ReplyDeleteI love that blog too.
Woah! Your haircut was not what I was expecting, but I really like it. It's cute on you.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the ponytail thing. I end up the same way. I am not sure about pixie cuts on bigger women, though I have sometimes thought of trying one out...I think they're at their best on slimmer women, like you or that lady who inspired your cut. I am rather desperate to change my hair lately, but I'm on a self-imposed budget of 1 cut per year. Maybe I should ditch that and go get a cut. I was thinking of getting it done like I did for my wedding again.
Thank you two! I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one who was tired of their hair.
ReplyDeleteI was kind of scared, and had no support from Zach ("It's gonna be a man haircut. You're gonna look butch."). Ultimately, I decided I was doing it for *me.* That may sound selfish, but I think sometimes wives and mothers sacrifice so much that they forget they are a person, with feelings and that it's okay to do something for yourself. Even if your husband isn't a fan.
Meg, I look forward to seeing whatever you come up with...hopefully sooner rather than later. ;)
Emily, I thought your hair looked really pretty while I was there! But, I do love the bob you had at your wedding.
Hair is a great thing because it grows back. It might take a while, but it's not permanent like a tattoo or something.
You're so right. I think it's important for us to do things for ourselves sometimes because we deserve it, it makes us happy, and it makes us better people to be around when we're happy. It's still hard for me to remember that sometimes, but thankfully Andrew is good at reminding me.
ReplyDeleteSo, does Zach like it now that it's cut, or is he still getting used to it?
Zach hasn't seen it yet (he saw a picture) because he's been in Florida since Sunday morning. Hopefully it won't take him too long to warm up to it.
ReplyDeleteWow! Super different from anything you've had before, but it looks cute! I bet Zach will warm up to it once he adjusts a bit. I have yet to know a guy who ever likes hair changes before they're done...oh men, haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the back look like? We need 360 degree pics ;)
