Winging It

The other day I decided to blow dry my hair upside down and see what it did.

My first thought upon looking at it in the mirror was Jane Jetson, from the cartoon.

After doing it for a couple of days, I have figured out how to tame it...

Sometimes it's still a little "wingy" but I like it much better than just combing it and letting it dry. I can't wait until the sides are grown out more and I won't need to blow it dry to get this look.

Happy Sunday!

WIFD: Day Two (and hair update)

Looks like Picasa gave me crazy eyes when I dd the red eye removal.
This wrap skirt was made by a small label in India. I wish the detail by the tie was more visible. It's really comfy, and Zach loves it. Sweater is Ann Taylor Loft, t-shirt is Target, both thrifted.

Today was a great day. I finally called my hairdresser and got an appointment for this afternoon. Wonderful! I've been putting it off for a while, because it needed to grow to a certain point to make it worth a trip to the salon. Since I've been home I've trimmed the back 3 times trying to buy myself time. Kelli thinned it (thank goodness; it gets so thick), and tried to shape it better without taking much off.

I want it to look like this:

It still has a ways to go, but it's only been growing out since July.

So things were great, and then I heard Jack puking. I could see the puddle of vomit and...worms. Oh. My. Word. I grabbed him, put him in the kennel, and tried calling Zach. I felt like I was going to vomit. Or cry. Maybe both. No luck getting Zach, so I dumped bleach on a couple of paper towels, put it on the puddle, and went to Wal-Mart. It took almost 30 minutes for my stomach to settle. Parasites are so not my thing.

So yes. To leave on a happy note, here is my vintage chair:

Just waiting for some paint and a new seat cover!

Happy Sunday!

Ships ahoy!
Too much sun for Tony's eyes. I think I am going to try brushing my bangs down more like this.
This sweet boy. I love his little face.
Rather self-explanatory: a side view of my hair.
The back.

I really love my hair. I can pull out the blow dryer, just use a towel, fluff a little, and go. Tony likes to grab the back of it, which is funny.

I received a lot of compliments at church today, which was nice. My sweet husband said that he thinks it will grow on him. I hope so, because it takes a while to grow back. :)

I hope everyone had a blessed third Sunday of Lent!
Much love,
Jess

Changes

Have you ever had that itch to do something drastic to your hair? In the past I have dyed or permed my hair to satisfy the desire for change. Lately I have been hating my hair. I refuse to be a ponytail mom. I am just not creative enough to do neat things with my hair, though. Time is a factor, too, since most days I barely make it through a shower without Tony crying (the playpen has been my new friend!). I have to hold him while I finish getting dressed. Nifty hairdo? Ha. I don't want to feel like a slob, it makes my day feel dreary.

Yesterday I came across a crafty blog and the owner had the most adorable pixie cut (which is in the growing out stage right now). I quickly decided I needed a change...

Katrina did it, and I think she did a great job. (Katrina was also my awesome photographer.) I haven't had my hair this short in 10 years, and initially I thought I would be really self-conscious. I love it, though. It's feminine in a different way, and you can make it more feminine with a pretty clip.

Just had to share...
Love,
Jess
