Sunday was a joy-filled day at my parents house. After three tries to induce my Mom naturally (after her c-section with #9 she has not had any contractions or gone into labor spontaneously), and a lot of movement by the baby (transverse, super high), Mom and her midwife decided it was time to go to the hospital. Sadly, because of her prior c-section (even though she has had 3 successful VBACs, one with a pitocin induction), they would not give her pitocin. The midwife said that would be the case at any hospital. Being 9 days overdue, and having no luck with a natural induction, Mom made the (difficult) decision to have a c-section. (She was so peaceful and strong about it - I think I cried more than she did.
My Mom is my hero. She is scared of c-sections, and hates being in the hospital. But, as she always has, she put the well-being of her baby first.

Mom and Cora were able to come home on Tuesday. That was a huge relief for everyone - taking all of the children to the hospital (with my own wiggly, noisy baby) was stressful to me, Mom wasn't getting any sleep with people coming in every hour, the little ones didn't have to constantly ask, "When can we go see Baby Cora again?"

| This makes me think Ren Faire gone Surgical. I didn't get a photo of the white suit that went with it. |

Tony hasn't been around many little babies. In fact, I don't know that he's been around any. This small person that everyone is so enamored with is kind of scary for him. She makes noise, and moves - heaven help us if Mommy holds her! Last night he started giving her kisses if we kissed her first. Super cute! I can't wait to have another baby!

When my Mom thought she would be having a homebirth, they had planned on doing a same day Baptism. Since that didn't work out, they went for the next best thing - as soon as they were discharged from the hospital! Fr. C. is a very kind, helpful priest, and baptized Cora on Tuesday, a couple of hours after they left the hospital.

It is good to have Mom home. We can take care of her here, and everyone is happier knowing that they can just run up to her room if they need her.
Hey Jess,
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is just my computer, but all the type is jumbled and in pieces in this post only. The picture captions are fine, but the paragraphs are unreadable.
Other than that, I love the pictures and enjoy reading your blog.
God bless,
Kristen Vogel
Thanks, Kristen! I was having difficulty with it, but I could still see it on this computer. I'll have to see if I can fix it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely family! I can't believe your mom did the baptism right after leaving the hospital. What a strong woman!
